Beam announces e-scooter insurance for Australia and Singapore

Beam, which was founded in Singapore in 2018 and now operates in six markets, just announced they will begin providing personal accident insurance coverage through a new partnership with Aon.

The new feature is extended to all its e-scooter riders across Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand with immediate effect.

This makes Beam the first company to introduce a multi-market rider protection programme in the mobility sharing industry. Riders can be covered for a range of events like bone fractures, loss of teeth, and loss or damage to personal belongings.

It includes a $50,000 coverage for accidental death, or up to $50,000 for permanent disablement caused while riding a Beam e-scooter. Beam will also cover up to $2,000 in medical expenses, up to $1,000 for fractured bones, and $250 per tooth lost up to $1,000, if their riders get into an accident. Riders who suffer loss or damage of their personal belonging due to an assault while they’re riding a Beam e-scooter can claim up to $5,000.
