The fight for legalizing emoblity devices like electric skateboards, electric scooters, monowheels and the onewheel is seeing an increasing amount of demonstrations in big European cities, with results.
Every country in Europe has its own rules when it comes to light electric vehicles. Some country’s have a total ban, some have it completely legalized and some are in the middle and only legalized electric scooters.
Germany slowly legalizing electric scooters last year after pressure from the community which included a legendary demonstration group ride through Berlin in december 2018. Mellow Boards made a nice re-cap of that event.
There are two European country’s left with a total ban: The United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Both country’s had an unlucky accident which resulted in a childish preventive ban on the entire range of electric vehicles. Riding around on your electric skateboard will result in the board being taken from you, and a nice fine of €410.
Amsterdam is next up to fight for the right to ride, with a demonstration group ride planned through the entire heart of the city organized by LegaalRijden. The Dutch lobby group of electric skateboarders. Working together with police, public transport and township this demonstration will visit some of the most crowded places of the city to spread awareness. Making it possible to ride electric skateboards without risking a fine and a once in a lifetime opportunity to ride in the middle of the road.
